Residential Wind Turbine System

A residential wind turbine system is meant to utilize at least some wind power for electricity in an individual’s home. Generally, these homes do not rely on the energy provided by a home wind turbine exclusively, though this is possible in areas where the wind speeds are consistently high.

Typically, though, the home is connected to a more standard utility service and uses the wind turbine system to provide supplemental power. That way, when wind speeds are low and the residential turbine system is not generating power, the connection to the utility service will still be there.

However, if the wind does continue to blow strong for a month, then any excess, unused power can be sold back to the utility company for a profit. Over the long run, this can lead to considerable energy savings which can justify investing in a residential wind turbine system, even if such a purchase can be costly up-front.
