Wind Power Efficiency

Wind power efficiency in many cases will depend on location. Needless to say, wind turbines are dependent on the wind; therefore, a wind turbine in an area of consistent high wind speeds will generate far more power than one in an area of low wind speed.

It is because of variation in the wind that typically buildings and residencies that install wind turbines remain connected to a more standard utility system. However, even in these cases, when the wind does blow hard, the extra electricity generated can be sold back to the power company.

Wind power continues to improve in efficiency. Today’s turbines generate power more quickly and efficiently than the windmills of centuries ago, of course, and as demand for alternative energy sources continues to increase, so does wind turbine technology continue to improve. Wind power can be noisy, but it produces no emissions after the initial construction and is a renewable energy source.
